AT50 Index Launches First African Exchange Activation at the Johannesburg Stock Exchange with Standard Bank as Lead Partner
Standard Bank joins as Lead Partner as the AT50 Index launches its first African exchange activation at the Johannesburg Stock Exchange on 15 July 2026.

Johannesburg, 15 July 2026 - Indexa Exchange Group is today launching the first African exchange activation of the AT50 Index (Africa Tech 50) at the Johannesburg Stock Exchange, marking a major milestone in the development of benchmark infrastructure for Africa's leading technology companies.
The Johannesburg activation follows the launch of the AT50 Index at the London Stock Exchange in January 2026 and begins a programme of activations across leading African exchanges. Standard Bank joins the programme as Lead Partner, supporting the AT50 African exchange series and its ambition to strengthen connections between Africa's leading technology companies, institutional investors and public markets.
The AT50 Index is an independent, rules-based benchmark designed to increase the visibility of Africa's leading technology companies and provide greater comparability and market intelligence across the continent's technology ecosystem.
Hosted by the Johannesburg Stock Exchange, the programme will bring together senior leaders from across Africa's capital markets, financial institutions, investment community, technology sector and professional services industry. Participating organisations will include Standard Bank, RMB, ABSA, Investec, British International Investment, Deloitte Africa, Bowmans, the UK Department for Business and Trade, Flutterwave, Onafriq, GoTyme and Yoco.
The programme will explore the conditions required for African technology companies to scale, attract institutional capital and prepare for future public-market participation. Sessions will examine what institutional investors need to see from high-growth technology companies, the role of private-market liquidity, pre-IPO readiness and the need for stronger pathways between private growth and public markets.
Ms Khusela Diko, Chairperson of Parliament's Portfolio Committee on Communications and Digital Technologies, will deliver opening remarks on building South Africa's digital economy through innovation, investment and capital formation for inclusive growth and shared prosperity. Richard Stout will represent Standard Bank across two programme sessions, contributing perspectives on institutional capital, market readiness and the continued development of Africa's technology investment ecosystem.
Gbite Oduneye, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Indexa Exchange Group, said: "The market cannot price what it cannot see. The AT50 Index is creating the benchmark infrastructure needed to improve the visibility of Africa's leading technology companies and connect private-market growth with institutional capital and future public-market opportunity. "Launching our first African exchange activation at the Johannesburg Stock Exchange is an important step in building stronger links between Africa's technology companies and the institutions that can support their long-term growth."
The Johannesburg activation is the first stage of the AT50 African exchange programme, with further activations planned in Cairo, Lagos and Nairobi. Indexa Exchange Group welcomes Standard Bank as Lead Partner and thanks the Johannesburg Stock Exchange, participating organisations, speakers and partners supporting the programme.
